I took the Switzerland trip on May 2017 and it was part of 21 days of Europe Solo Trip. Netherland was my first destination and i spent 6 days there, before spending three days in Belgium and two Days in Luxembourg. After Luxembourg, i went to Switzerland. I spent good 7 days in Switzerland and Lake Blausee was on my fourth day.
I was supposed to visit Lake Blausee and Glacier 3000 that day, before staying the night at Zermatt. However, I managed to only visit Lake Blausee because I ran out of money and time since I got lost on my way to Lake Blausee.
Where is Lake Blausee anyway?
Blausee itself means Blue lake, a beautiful lake in Kander Valley above Kandergrund at 887 meters. It is a small lake, and 2-3 hours maximum here would be enough. From Interlaken, you have to take a train to Spiez, and then Frutigen, before reaching the lake. The total duration is about 1,5 hours trip.
How to get to Lake Blausee
It’s relatively easy to get to the Lake. From Interlaken, you can go to Kandersteg, and make a stop at the lake. The train service usually make a transfer at Spiez, or Frutigen. Bus number 60 will take you from Interlaken west station to Spiez (Spiez Station/ Spiez Bahnhof). From Spiez Bahnhof, you can take railway to Brig and stop at Frutigen, and then from Frutigen you can hop on bus number 230 and stop right in front of Blausee Entrance (Blausee BE).
I used google map to get there earliest in the morning and made a wrong stop. I stopped before the entrance gate and followed the direction google map pointing at me by walking. As a result, I had to pass by the uncharted forest, drown myself in the swamp, and by miracle, got myself inside the lake through its Back door. I simply thought that that was the way to get in.
By the time I exited the place, I realized there was a well-marked entrance towards the lake, and one had to get through from there and pay the entrance fee (Sigh). And that is my story on how I got into Lake Blausee accidentally illegal. I promise you that was not my intention. I also arrived when no one was even around, and I had the place all to myself for about an hour.

Activities to do in Lake Blausee
In Blausee, you can take a light hike around the woods and the lake within its proximity. You can also have a picnic and ride a boat on the lake.
The lake has the clearest blue water I have ever seen, and to do nothing and just sit by the lake would do you well for certain. Legend has it, the colour of the lake comes from a girl who drowning in the lake from broken heart.
