That day i took Oxford, Stratford, Cotswolds and Warwick Castle Tour and here’s the route for the places that i visited.

Warwick Castle

If visit to Leeds castle Windsor Castle gave me a glimpse of what it looks like to live like a noble. Visit Windsor Castle actually give you a chance to live like one. Leeds Castle and Windsor Castle are managed by English heritage, while Warwick castle is operated/managed by merlin entertainment. Thus, the castle is for entertainment purpose. I could see tents spread in the park, or someone with medieval costume greeted me on the entrance gate of the castle. Even the seller at the food stall using the medieval costume. I thought I was in 11th centuries when I was in Leeds or Windsor, but in Warwick castle, I felt like I was one of those nobles ;). Warwick castle also offers glamping and staying at the tower suite.

Warwick castle was built in 11th centuries, and have so many buildings that are worth exploration and my favorite part of the castle was the Time Tower, and the Trebuchet placed outside the castle area, across the Avon River. Me and my friends spent most of our time over there. At that day, the weather in England was gloomy all day long and it was drizzling on Warwick castle (not to mention the strong wind). We made a quick detour before going back to the bus.

One thing that I loved so much about this tour was that we passed Cotswold. All the way, we saw countryside houses that were all very pretty. They were medieval houses, small, petite, and neatly organized. Those kind of houses you see in the movies. Too bad we only passed by. I hope one day I can come back and experience living in one of those houses 😉

Shakespeare’s Birthplace – Stratford-Upon-Avon

When we arrived at Shakespeare birthplace, it was still drizzling. The tour was started by visiting the house where Shakespeare was born. The house was very small and antique, but very well preserved. It was made from timber. Since the two-stories house was small, we needed to be very patient in queuing. The bedroom, kitchen and many rooms inside the house were arranged as if someone still lived in that house. It was such an eye opening on how the common lives on that period (16th century).

Oxford University Walking Tour

Our visit started with Brasenose college, The university Church of St Mary the Virgin, and Bodleian Library. Oxford University is the oldest English-speaking University in the world which said to be started around 1096.

What’s unique about this university is that it doesn’t have main building, all campuses are spread around the city. It has four (4) academic divisions, 38 colleges, and 6 permanent private halls. The 4 academic divisions are humanities, Medical sciences, Social sciences, and Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences. The proverb says, if you can’t school at Oxford, you can still visit Oxford as tourist 😉

It was another gloomy day in Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick Castle – Wednesday, May6th 2015
